Convergence visually and symbolically explores the coexistence of humans and artificial intelligence while simultaneously expressing feelings of fascination, anxiety and hope regarding the future of this relationship. It poses the question: where does the human end and the artificial begin?
In the centre of the piece is a stylised profile of a human head divided into two contrasting sections: the upper part is composed of precise rectangular and technologically structured elements that evoke the digital world through the intricate geometric patterns and metallic surfaces that allude to the complexity of algorithms and machine processing of information which call forth an admiration for technological process and an underlying unease about its rapid integration into human existence. In contrast, the lower section of the artwork depicts an organic, irregular and textured structure that resembles the natural elements. This segment suggests human existence, intuition and the natural world from which we originate. The feeling of vulnerability and hope is evoked through the fractures and cracks breaching out from the centre which can be interpreted as a transformation process.
